Web design, Cardiff

Web design for Cardiff businesses, at a price you can read before you ring

A website for a Cardiff business costs £599 to £1,600 with us, one-off and fixed, and is built around what the capital's market actually is: the most competitive searches in Wales, a customer base that reads on a phone, a public sector that asks about Welsh in every tender, and 12.2 per cent of residents who speak the language. We are a Wrexham studio, remote as standard, in Cardiff by appointment, and we would rather tell you on this page what we would tell you in a meeting.

Green Welsh hills under a wide sky

The Cardiff market

Four kinds of Cardiff business, and what each one's website has to do

Suppliers to the public sector. Cardiff holds the Senedd, the Welsh Government, Cardiff Council, Cardiff and Vale health board and three universities, and between them they buy from thousands of small firms: catering, facilities, training, design, software, construction. Their tenders ask whether you can serve the public in Welsh. A site that shows a Welsh version, even of the key pages, answers that question before the form does. That is the one Cardiff case where the bilingual build pays for itself in a single contract.

Professional and financial services. The city is the financial and professional centre of Wales, with an insurer's head office in the middle of it and every national law and accountancy firm in a building near the station. A solicitor, accountant, architect or consultant here is judged on the site in the first ten seconds: who the people are, what they have done, what it costs to ask. Faces, named partners, a page per service, and a form that does not go to a shared inbox nobody reads.

Hospitality, events and the Bay.On an international match day the city's bars, restaurants and hotels fill from the phone in someone's hand on Westgate Street. The site has to load in under two seconds on that phone, show the menu and the hours without a PDF, and take the booking. For the Bay's restaurants and the venues that live off the stadium and the arena calendar, the events page and the opening hours in the structured data matter more than the design.

Trades and local services across the suburbs. Roath, Canton, Whitchurch, Llanishen, Penarth over the border: a plumber, a garage or a cleaning company in Cardiff competes with national lead-generation sites that sit on page one for most trades. The way past them is a page that is plainly about your work in Cardiff, your own photographs of jobs on Cardiff streets, and a Google Business Profile that names the districts you cover. We build the site so those three things are easy to keep up.

What is different from a Cardiff agency

The price is published, the builder is the person you talk to, and Welsh is a decision, not an upsell

Cardiff has more web agencies than the rest of Wales put together, and most of them price after a meeting. Ours is on the pricing page: three packages, what each contains, and the Welsh version as a priced option rather than a surprise. You know the number before the first call.

The site is built by the person you speak to, in Wrexham, on our own stack: static pages that load in under two seconds on a phone, no WordPress, no plugins to update, no template licence. Your photographs, your words after one call and a checklist, a form protected against spam that reaches your phone in seconds, Search Console and Analytics in your name.

And Welsh is decided by the customer, not the postcode. The capital's 42,757 Welsh speakers are a real audience for some businesses and irrelevant to others. The bilingual page gives the honest test; we apply it in the audit and put the answer in writing, whichever way it goes.

What you get

The site, page by page

A home page that says what you do and that you do it in Cardiff in the first line. A page for each service, because “conveyancing solicitor Cardiff” deserves a page about conveyancing, not a list. A page of your work with your own photographs. An about page with faces, the years, the certificates. A contact page with the CF postcode, the hours, the map, and a form that works. Legal pages that satisfy the ICO and, if you need them, the SRA or your professional body.

Underneath: structured data for the organisation and every service, a sitemap with a real date on every page, images in modern formats, and a form with eight layers against spam. If we vanished, the site would keep running on any host.

After launch

Keeping it found in the most competitive city in Wales

A new site in Cardiff does not rank on launch day for “web design cardiff”-sized searches; it ranks first for the specific ones, the service plus the district, and grows from there. The SEO retainer from £399 a month is one page a month written from your own Search Console data, the Business Profile kept up, and a two-page report. It is optional, and the first month is included with the two larger packages so you can see what it does before you pay for it.

Hosting and care at £159 a year keeps the site fast, backed up and monitored, with the form tested every week so an enquiry never fails silently.

Questions Cardiff businesses ask

Do you have an office in Cardiff?

No. We are a studio in Wrexham and we build for businesses across Wales; the work is remote as standard and we come to Cardiff by appointment when a job needs it. What you get for that is a published fixed price and the person who builds the site on the phone, rather than a city-centre rent in the quote.

Does a Cardiff business need a Welsh version of its website?

Only sometimes. About one in eight people in Cardiff speaks Welsh, which is more than most people expect, but the deciding question is who you sell to. A firm that tenders to the Welsh Government, the Senedd, the health board or the council will be asked about Welsh-language provision; a café in Canton will not. The bilingual page sets out the honest test, and we say no when the second language would only cost you money.

What does a website cost for a Cardiff business?

£599 for Starter, £1,200 for Business and £1,600 for Business + growth, one-off and fixed before we start, with the Welsh version from £350 on top. Hosting and care is £159 a year. Ask any three Cardiff agencies for a fixed figure in writing and compare; most will not give one before a meeting.

Will the site rank for searches in Cardiff?

A new site ranks for the searches its pages are genuinely about, in the places it genuinely names. So the service pages name Cardiff, and the districts where you actually work, in the copy and the address block, with a CF postcode Google can place. What we do not do is a page per suburb with the name swapped; Google has been filtering those since 2015 and Cardiff has more of them than any city in Wales. The SEO page explains the retainer if you want the rankings pushed after launch.

Can you work with our marketing person or an agency we already use?

Yes. Plenty of Cardiff businesses have someone running social media or a PR agency on retainer. We build the site and hand over a page anyone can edit through a call with us; they keep doing what they do. Search Console and Analytics are in your name from day one, so nobody is locked to anybody.

How long does it take?

About four weeks from the call to launch for a Starter or Business site, longer when the words and photographs take time on your side, which is the usual reason. A bilingual site adds the translation time, typically a week for a signed-off English draft.

A fixed quote for a Cardiff website, with the Welsh question answered honestly

Send your current site, or the name of the business if there is no site yet, and what you sell to whom. The audit says what the site needs, whether Welsh is worth it for your customers, and the price, in writing.
