Web design, South Wales

Web design for South Wales, from the Severn Bridge to St Davids, at one fixed price

A website for a South Wales business costs £599 to £1,600 with us, one-off, fixed before we start, and the same in Chepstow as in Fishguard. What differs across the region is the search a customer makes: the M4 cities, the Valleys towns and the Welsh-speaking west each need a different kind of site, and the plan is written for yours before a page is designed.

A rugged Welsh coastline under a bright sky

Three regions inside one

South Wales is three markets, and a customer searches differently in each

Most of the population of Wales lives along the M4 and in the valleys above it, so the searches are the most competitive in the country. Twenty miles north or west of the motorway the picture is the opposite. The site is built for the market it is actually in.

The fourteen South Wales local authorities, grouped by how the search behaves rather than by the map.
AreaHow a customer searchesWhat the site has to doWelsh?
Cardiff, Newport, Bridgend, the M4 corridorService plus city or district, against national firms and lead-generation sitesWin the specific searches first: a page per service that names the district, real photographs, the map-pack profile backed upFor tenders and public bodies; otherwise a customer decision
The Valleys: Rhondda, Merthyr, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, TorfaenThe business name, or the trade plus the town, on a phoneLoad in a second, show the number and the town in the first line, prove the business is real with photographs of its own workRarely for search; sometimes for identity
Swansea Bay, Neath Port Talbot, the GowerTrades and hospitality from a phone; tourism searches from far awayA page for each service and each place, opening hours and booking where it applies, the Gower and the coast named honestlySometimes, on the tourism side
Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, the Teifi valleyTourism from England from Easter to October; local trade in Welsh and EnglishA Welsh version that reads as Welsh, seasonal pages live before the booking window, farm and food producers with an online shopOften, and often Welsh-first

Public sector and tenders

Where the Welsh Language Standards decide the site before the design does

Cardiff holds the Senedd and the Welsh Government, Newport holds the Office for National Statistics and the Intellectual Property Office, and every county has its council and its health board. Between them they buy from thousands of small firms in South Wales, and a supplier that answers a tender is often asked how it will serve customers in Welsh.

A site built for that market has the Welsh version at its own address, hreflang on every page and forms that work in both languages, from £350 as an add-on to any package. The charities and public bodies page covers the Standards themselves; the guide explains when they reach a private supplier.

Tourism, food and the coast

The west sells to people who have never been, in the months before they arrive

Pembrokeshire, the Gower and the Carmarthenshire coast are searched from Birmingham, Bristol and London in January and February, by people planning Easter and the summer. A site for a campsite, a holiday let, a farm shop or a restaurant in the west has to be found for the place and the thing, with prices, dates and the coast path named, months before the season.

The tourism and hospitality page sets out what a booking-led site needs, and the farms and food producers page covers the online shop for a producer whose customers are in England for most of the year.

Working from Wrexham

Two and a half hours away, and it shows in the road time, not the site

Wrexham to Cardiff is about two and a half hours, to Swansea three, to Haverfordwest closer to four. So a South Wales build is planned on a video call, the photographs are taken in one visit or by you with our checklist, the pages are reviewed on a shared screen, and the launch happens by phone. Most of our South Wales clients meet us once, at the photograph stage, and some never do.

What you get for that is a studio with published prices and no Cardiff overheads, built on our own static stack rather than WordPress, and the person you speak to building the site. The areas page gives the road times for the whole of Wales; the two largest cities have their own pages for Cardiff and Swansea.

Questions South Wales businesses ask

Do you cover the whole of South Wales?

Yes: the fourteen local authorities from Monmouthshire to Pembrokeshire, including the Valleys. The work is remote as standard from our studio in Wrexham, with one visit for photographs or a planning session when the job needs it. What changes between Newport and Narberth is what the site has to do, not the price.

Is a South Wales website more expensive because of the competition in Cardiff?

No. The three packages are £599, £1,200 and £1,600 wherever the business is. Competition changes the plan for being found, which is the SEO conversation, not the build. A Valleys plumber and a Cardiff Bay restaurant pay the same for the same number of pages.

Do we need Welsh on a South Wales site?

It depends on who you sell to, not on the postcode. A business tendering to Cardiff Council, the Welsh Government or a health board meets the Welsh Language Standards through its customers' obligations. A Carmarthenshire or Teifi valley business often has Welsh-speaking customers who expect it. A Newport engineering firm selling into England usually does not. We ask the question in the first call and give a straight answer.

How long does a South Wales website take?

About four weeks from the call to launch for a Starter or Business site. The distance adds nothing to that: the planning happens on a video call, the photographs are taken in one visit or by you with our checklist, and the launch is done by phone. A bilingual site adds the translation time, typically one to two weeks.

Can you build a site for a business with more than one South Wales branch?

Yes. A branch in Bridgend and one in Llanelli each get a page that names its own area, its own phone number and its own Google Business Profile, so a customer in either town finds the right one. The Wales-wide SEO tier at £799 a month is written for exactly that shape of business.

What happens after launch?

The site is yours: the code, the domain, the content. Hosting and care at £159 a year keeps it fast, backed up and monitored, with the enquiry form tested every week. Getting found for the searches that matter in your part of South Wales is the SEO work, from £399 a month, and the first month is free with any package.

A fixed quote for a South Wales website, wherever in the region you are

Send your current site, or the name of the business if there is no site yet, and the towns you serve. The audit says what the site needs for your part of South Wales, whether Welsh belongs on it, and the price, in writing.
