Web design in Wales: built for the customer who searches from here

A website for a business in Wales costs between £599 and £1,600 with us as a one-off, takes about four weeks, and is built around three facts: nearly everyone looks on a phone, one in six of them speaks Welsh, and Google decides where you appear from what the pages say about the work and the places. We are a studio in Wrexham, we come to you by appointment, and the price on the pricing page is the price.

What is in every site

The pages a customer checks, and the details that tell them it is really you

A customer who has found you on a phone wants four things settled in one scroll: what you do, whether you do it where they are, whether you are real, and how to ask. So every site has a home page that says the first two in the first line; a page for each service, because a search for “wedding photographer Pembrokeshire” deserves a page about weddings in Pembrokeshire and not a list of everything you offer; a page of your work with your own photographs; an about page with faces, the years, the van, the certificates; and a quote form on every page that reaches your inbox and your phone within seconds.

The details are Welsh. Place names appear the way your customers say them, so a page can be about Wrecsam and Wrexham, Caerdydd and Cardiff, without one being a translation of the other. The fonts we ship carry ŵ and ŷ, which is why Tŷ Newydd and Llanrwst render correctly in a heading rather than as a box. The address block uses your postcode area, LL or SY or SA or CF, so Google connects the site to the place. And where the business is one of the 538,300 Welsh speakers' own, the Welsh version is built as a second site, not bolted on.

Under the surface: static pages on our own stack, images served in modern formats, structured data for the organisation and every service, a sitemap with a real date on each page, Search Console and Analytics set up with consent, and a form protected by eight layers against spam and none against people. No page builder, no plugins, no template licence. If we vanished, the site would keep running on any host.

Which package

What we would suggest for five real kinds of Welsh business

The package is decided by how many services and places need a page, and by whether Welsh is needed. Not by the size of the business.

Suggested website package by kind of business
The businessPackageWhy
A café in Llandudno with a menu, opening hours and a room for hireStarterFive pages do the job. A Welsh layer for the menu and the welcome, because half the summer trade is Welsh families from the south.
A plumber in Wrexham covering Flintshire and into CheshireBusinessA page per service, a page per town that is genuinely served, the emergency number everywhere. English first; most searches here are in English.
Three holiday cottages near Aberdaron on the LlŷnBusiness + bilingual add-onA page per cottage with a booking path, the area guide, and Welsh first: two in three neighbours speak it and guests from Caernarfon and Pwllheli notice.
An agricultural contractor in PowysStarterServices, kit, the area from Newtown to Builth, and a phone number. A shop is not needed; the work comes from the phone and the Royal Welsh.
A community charity with Welsh Government fundingBusiness + bilingual add-onEvery public page in both languages to the standard the funder asks for, WCAG 2.2, a donation button that works on a phone, and minutes the trustees can find.

The four weeks

What happens, in order, and what we need from you

Audit and call, week one
We read your current site, your Google Business Profile and the three businesses above you for your searches. Forty minutes on the phone about the work you want more of and the places you actually cover. You get the audit and a fixed quote by email, usually the same day.
Photos and answers, weeks one to two
The checklist arrives the day you say yes. Twenty questions in your own words and a shot list for your phone. This is the slow part, and it is the part only you can do.
Build on a private link, weeks two to three
Every page and every form on an address only you have. You send it to your partner or your trustees. We change it until it is right.
Translation if bilingual, week three
Signed-off English to the translator, Welsh back, second reader, the /cy/ site built with hreflang and the switch. The Welsh version launches on the same day as the English one, never later.
Live, week four
Domain pointed, forms tested to your phone, Search Console and Analytics set up with consent, the Google profile matched to the site. Then the first free month of the monthly work for anyone on a package.

After launch

Launch gets you found by name. The searches for the work take months.

A new site ranks for your own name within weeks and for your town once the Google profile agrees with it. “Electrician Bangor” or “holiday cottages Ceredigion” are won over a season by adding pages, collecting reviews and being mentioned where Google looks, in Welsh as well as English where that is where your customers are. That is the monthly SEO, from £399 a month, and the first month is free with every package. Full prices here; the audit is free either way.

Questions businesses in Wales ask us

What does a website cost with you?

£599 for Starter, £1,200 for Business, £1,600 for Business + growth, all one-off, and the Welsh version from £350 on top. Hosting and care is £159 a year, included for the first year with the two larger packages. The pricing page lists what each contains, and the quote is fixed before we start.

Do you build in WordPress?

No. We build static sites on our own stack, which is why they load in under two seconds on a phone and need no plugin updates. If you have a WordPress site you want kept, we can work with it on the SEO side, and the redesign page explains when moving off it is worth the trouble.

Will you write the words?

Yes, after one call and your answers to the checklist. Your knowledge, our sentences. If a Welsh version is needed, the signed-off English goes to a translator, and if you have a Welsh speaker in the business they can write it and we proofread.

I only have photos on my phone.

That is where they should be. The checklist says what to shoot and how: the shopfront from the pavement, the workshop, the team, the last three jobs. We sort, resize and caption. We do not fill gaps with stock photos of people who have never been to Wales.

Do you work with businesses over the border?

Yes. Wrexham is twenty minutes from Chester, and half the businesses we know trade both ways. The site names the English towns you serve too, and the Welsh version is simply not built where nobody would read it.

Find out what your site says to a customer in Wales

Send the address, or say you have none, and where you are. You get a review of what a customer sees on a phone, what Google sees, whether Welsh belongs on it, and a fixed quote for the build.
